The RV industry is growing and prospering today in spite of having endured two significant economic
hurdles. The first was the “Energy Crisis” of the early 1970s and the other was the high-interest rates and inflation
in the early 1980s. The industry also has representatives on an international scale with plants in Canada,
Mexico, Australia, and various European countries. Aside from the new models being produced, there are millions
of RVs already in the marketplace. All these RVs need quality maintenance and attention. The 2009
Bureau of Labor Statistics lists 10,860 RV technicians in the United States. With over 9 million RVs on the road,
this means there is one technician for every 830 RVs.
RVIA is the national trade association representing manufacturers and component suppliers producing
approximately 98% of all RVs and conversion vehicles manufactured in the United States. The mission of the
RVIA is to protect and promote the interests of its members and the well being of the Industry.
RVDA is the national association dedicated to advancing the RV retailer’s best interests through education, member services, industry leadership, and market expansion programs that promote the increased sale and use of RVs and that enhance the positive image of the RV experience. RVDA is involved with dealer-manufacturer issues, state and federal legislation affecting the dealer’s business, the national Go RVing advertising campaign, and educational programs.
